DNA analysis to help find killer link in 3-year-old's murder
The Cuffe Parade police has collected several samples from the dead body of Angelle Sharma (3) and sent them for DNA analysis in order to confirm if she fell prey to the same deranged killer, who has already killed two minor girls from the area in the past.
According to the Cuffe Parade police, the results of the tests are expected soon. They will then be compared to the DNA samples recovered from the bodies of Jagruti Rawal (4) and Karishma Chavan (3). Both girls were found dead on an open plot of land near Vidyut Bhavan in Colaba.
“If the comparisons show a positive match, we can at least be sure that we are dealing with the same killer and plan our investigations in that direction,” said Vilas Bhole, police inspector, Cuffe Parade police station.
The police suspects that after security was tightened around the spot, where the earlier two bodies were dumped, the killer decided to dump Angelle’s body in the sea.
However, unlike Jagruti and Karishma, who were killed by bashing their heads in with a heavy stone, Angelle had been strangled to death.
Angelle’s father Rajiv, who had made some cryptic threats to “take care of her” two days before the murder, has been traced to Uttar Pradesh. He will be questioned when he returns. However, Angelle’s mother Suzzane said that she does not suspect Rajiv of the crime.
