Docs pulling each other’s hair out over biz rivalry
The Versova police has booked a doctor under several sections of the IPC including cheating, criminal intimidation, molestation and under Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act for allegedly carrying out hair treatments without having the requisite permits.
However, accused Dr Vivek Nigam said that he has been “falsely implicated” over professional rivalry by the complainant Dr Anjali Shere, a MD, dermatologist.
Dr Shere said, “He (Dr Nigam) is not a dermatologist and does not have the requisite permissions or the degree to carry out these hair treatments.”
Replying to the allegations, Dr Nigam said, “All the allegations made against me are baseless. She has used her political clout to get the FIR registered. Dr Shere was my former employee and after learning from me, she parted ways to start her own business.”
Dr Shere’s advocate Rizwan Siddiquee said, “I have also filed separate complaints with various bodies against Dr Nigam to authenticate the claims made by him. He is charging `5 lakh to `10 lakh for the said courses. I have personally spoken to most of the celebrities and neither of them have even met or heard about Dr Nigam.”
Dismissing all allegations, Dr Nigam replied, “I will use the RTI Act to ask the police the basis on which they have registered the FIR against me.”
