Drunk driver rams BMW into auto, injures three

A 32-year-old woman was on Thursday arrested for ramming her BMW into an autorickshaw and injuring three, under the influence of alcohol in Mankhurd in the early hours of Thursday.
Aarti Shetty was behind the steering wheel along with two other women driving towards Navi Mumbai. Shetty was driving at a very high speed when she lost control of the vehicle and rammed into an autorickshaw travelling alongside, sending it careening sideways.
Even after hitting the autorickshaw, she did not stop the car and tried to flee the scene, only to hit a dumper parked alongside the street. The impact finally made the car stop.
“Doctors have confirmed inebriation and Aarti has been charged for causing injury due to rash and negligent driving, as well as for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was granted bail on Thursday afternoon,” said Shankarsingh Rajput, senior police inspector, Mankhurd police station.
The three women, who were visibly inebriated, were taken to the Rajawadi Hospital for a medical checkup and subsequently to the police station.

KIDNAPPED WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN CITY
Age Correspondent
Mumbai, Nov. 1

The police’s investigations into a dead body found in Kanjurmarg on Wednesday have unraveled a grim tale of murder.
Bharti Jaiswal (40), a resident of Surat, Guj-arat and her associate Jaydeep Patel had come to Mumbai on October 26 for a business transaction, when they were abducted and robbed. “The duo was introduced to three men posing as businessmen, who took the duo to Dindoshi. Once there, Bharti and Jaydeep were stripped off their valuables at gunpoint and locked up in separate room. The next day, the trio forced Jaydeep back into his Skoda, telling him that Bharti had already been released. Jaydeep managed to escaped with the car when they stopped for dinner near Indore. He came back to Mumbai and filed a police complaint on October 30,” said Sunil Deshmukh, ACP, Dahisar division.
Her body was found in Kanjurmarg on Wednesday.
