Eastern suburbs to see water cut today
Residents in the eastern suburbs and some other areas of the city will face 15 per cent water cuts on Monday due to repair work at the Panjrapur water treatment plant,
According to civic officials, the civic body has undertaken repair of the 1,800 mm diameter sluice valve at Panjrapur water treatment plant in Stage III and Stage III A pumping stations. The 13 hour-repair work will start at 11 am on July 8 and will be completed by midnight.
Due to this work, 15 per cent water cuts will be implemented in the entire eastern suburbs from Kurla to Mulund and also other wards in the city like F/South (Parel, Sewri), F/North (Matunga, Sion) and partially in B (Dongri, Umerkhadi) and E ward (Byculla, Mazgaon) during the corresponding period.
Civic officials said that these repair works are being undertaken periodically to ensure smooth functioning of the Panjrapur water treatment plant.
Last month, three pipeline bursts in a span of few hours had made the BMC impose 50 per cent water cuts, for a couple of days. However, the civic officials worked on a war footing to complete the repair work before time.
