Female foetus found abandoned
An unborn female foetus, believed to be around 3 months old, was discovered abandoned in the common bathroom at the Rajawadi Hospital late on Thursday night. The baby was removed surgically almost within a few months after conception and then abandoned, hospital sources said. The Tilak Nagar police has registered a case against an unknown person.
According to hospital sources, the foetus was found in the washroom near the casualty ward by a rickshaw driver who had come to hospitalise his father. The hospital authorities were immediately informed. “We later informed the police who is investigating the case. The foetus was taken out immediately a few months after conception,” said Dr Vidya Thakur from Rajawadi Hospital. “The woman has definitely not undergone a legal medical termination of pregnancy as the foetus would have remained with the doctors. The abortion has to be illegal,” said a hospital source.
Senior PI Laxman Bhalerao of Tilak Nagar police station said, “The baby was abandoned by a patient who was not admitted and visited the hospital for a simple treatment. Tracing the accused would be difficult as many people visit the hospital toilet.”
