Five fatal accidents in thane rural
Within 48 hours, five fatal accidents took place in Thane rural where six men lost their lives. The first, a hit-and-run case, took place in Shahapur on Wednesday at 12.30 am.
Two youngsters on a bike were on their way to Mumbai from Nashik when an unidentified truck rammed into them in Pendarghol village and fled from the spot. The duo, Amol Bangre and Mohan Gavte were riding without a helmet and died of grievous head injuries.
The second took place on Wednesday in Kutal village at Manor on the Boisar Chilla road at 12.45 am. The deceased, Ashish Patil (28), is a farmer and was speeding in his Swift Dzire. He lost control over the wheels while taking a U-turn and the car turned turtle. Patil was not wearing his seat belt and his head smashed against the windshield.
The third took place in Sukatamba village in Jawahar on Wednesday at 12.30 pm. The driver Nathu Thakur (40) driving a three-tier tempo on a road with a steep slope, lost control over the wheels and turned it turtle. The cleaner Somil Shaikh (17) seated with him died of head injuries and Thakur was arrested.
The fourth accident took place on Thursday at 6.30 am in Somatgaon in Jawahar. The deceased Arvind Gautam (25) was driving a trailer towards Gujarat. Gautam while speeding lost control over the wheels and rammed the trailer into the divider following which it turned turtle. Gautam died of head injuries.
In the last incident, a rickshaw driver was killed after he fell asleep at the wheels and the vehicle turned turtle at Kashimira.
