Four more kids suffer from gastro
Four more children were admitted on Thursday with symptoms of gastroenteritis even as the condition of 34 others remained stable in the Kasturabai Adivasi Ashram Shala incident in Taukheda-Sukhwad village in Sindhkheda tehsil of the Dhule district.
A total of 34 students of an ashram shala were admitted with gastro after drinking contaminated tanker water since Tuesday, while four more complained of vomiting and diarrhoea on Thursday.
Speaking to The Asian Age, district health officer (DHO) Dr Arvind More stated that experts from Medical College were analysing the cases, along with other government doctors. “All patients are stable and we hope to get the reports on water and stool samples so we can know what caused the disease. We are also doing provisional diagnosis on other students,” Dr More said.
Sources said that the students in the age group of six to 15 years began feeling sick at around 12 midnight on Tuesday and were taken to the local primary health centre (PHC).
About seven children were taken to Nardana PHC, three to Dhule General Hospital and the rest are being treated in Kasturabai Adivasi Ashram Shala.
Sources said that two days ago it was observed that the school well which supplies drinking water was apparently contaminated and so tanker water was brought in for the school. Dr More stated that the gastro might have been caused by contaminated water.
