Gear up for polls: Uddhav
Speaking at a public rally at Kudal in the Sindhudurg district Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday targeted the Congress-NCP leaders for their alleged corruption and asked the people to get ready for elections.
Kudal, which is considered a stronghold of industries minister Narayan Rane, who left Shiv Sena seven years ago, witnessed Mr Thackeray promising to resolve all problems, if his party comes into power after 2014 Assembly elections.
Criticising NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Mr Thackeray said, “What has Mr Pawar done as the Union agriculture minister. Did he ever visit the Konkan region and ask people about the issues they face? He is only concerned about his party.”
Without naming the industries minister, Mr Thackeray said, “In the guise of bringing up the Chipi Airport, land belonging to the common people was grabbed. The project still hasn’t seen the light
of the day and nobody knows when is it going to start.”
Mr Thackeray further questioned the role of the state ministers and MPs regarding the matter.
Coming down heavily on deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for his crass remarks, the Shiv Sena president said that fasting as repentance in front of the media was just a farce. “If he had actually realised his mistake, he would have gone and met the people living in various parts of the state who are facing acute water shortage. He should have tried to provide immediate relief to them,” said Mr Thackeray.
Asking people to gear up for elections, Mr Thackeray said, “You should be ready for elections and be prepared to give suitable reply to those who have betrayed you. I assure to resolve all your problems if I am voted to power.”
