According to the police, complainant Bhavin Mehta is a resident of Malabar Hill and owns a jewellery-making firm Taykarati Jewellery Pvt. Ltd, located at Opera House. “In February this year, Goda told Mehta that his mother and sisters wanted to buy jewellery and asked if he could take some
jewellery home to show it to his family. Since Mehta knew Goda for the past five years, he trusted him and from February 4 to 12, gave Goda gold and diamond studded jewellery worth total `34.48 lakh. Every time while taking the jewellery, Goda promised Mehta of returning the ornaments in two-three days.
