Gov’s wife in icu after chest pain
Wife of Maharashtra governor, Radha Sankaranarayanan was admitted to Bombay Hospital at Marine Lines on Sunday after she complained of uneasiness.
The Raj Bhavan spokesperson said, “Ms Sankaranarayanan was feeling uneasy and complained of a minor chest pain for which she has been admitted to Bombay Hospital. Dr B.K. Goel is monitoring her condition. There is nothing serious and one shouldn’t worry. She has been admitted for routine observation.”
Dr Goel, chief cardiologist at Bombay Hospital while giving an update about Ms Sankaranarayanan’s health said, “Ms Sankaranarayanan complained of chest pain when was brought to the hospital. We have admitted her in the intensive cardiac care unit (ICCU) and she is stable. However, we are keeping her under observation. On Sunday, we only conducted certain blood tests. On Monday, we will carry out further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of pain, and if needed we will perform the required procedures.”
Meanwhile, following the sudden illness of his wife, governor K. Sankaranarayanan cancelled his outstation engagements, the spokesperson added.

8 arrested for stealing iron rods

The Narpoli police in the early hours of Sunday chased and arrested eight out of the 12 dacoits who assaulted a watchman at an under-construction site in Bhiwandi and fled with iron rods worth `3.20 lakh.
According to assistant police inspector, Anil Gambhir, the incident took place at around 5 am in Osavalwadi area on the Kamatghar Road.
The 12 dacoits arrived at the spot in a truck and assaulted the watchman. They then started loading the iron rods lying at the construction site and sped away with nearly eight tonnes of iron rods.
The watchman contacted the site supervisor Yogesh Pujari, who then alerted the police. A message was sent on the wireless and a nakabandi was imposed at the Bhiwandi check naka.
“We have recovered valuables worth `1.60 lakh and ascertained that the truck was rented from Kurla specially for commission of the offence. We have gained their custody till May 3,” added Mr Gambhir.
