Grievance redressal day sees only 1 visitor
City police commissioner Satyapal Singh’s latest visit, as part of the weekly Grievance Redressal Day (GRD) to MRA Marg police station on Saturday, witnessed only a single woman coming forward with a grievance.
The frustrated looking woman told Mr Singh, “I tried to register a forgery case in April, however due to the jurisdiction issue between MRA and Azad Maidan police stations, a lot of time got wasted. Also, finally after registering a forgery and cheating case, 25 days have passed by, but police has not initiated the investigation. The senior officials deny meeting |us, stating they are busy.” Taking note of the matter, the city commissioner phoned the zonal deputy commissioner Ravindra Shisve and got an
appointment for the lady fixed. When asked how GRD was helping the police, Mr Singh said, “Earlier, large crowds used to gather outside the cabins of all senior police officers at the police commissioner’s office. Now, they know that one senior officer comes to their police station every Saturday. Due to this, numbers have come down by large margin.”
senior police inspector Padmakar Juikar of MRA Marg police station said, “Even the writ petitions filed in the
court against the police have decreased due to GRD.”
When asked about the commissioner’s discussions with police officials, Mr Juikar said, “He met every policeman individually and asked them about their problems. We told him that we have a space crunch at police station, due to which officials and complainants do not feel comfortable.”
