HC asks I-T dept, CBI and ED to streamline probe
The Bombay high court on Monday asked the I-T department, CBI and Enforcement Directorate to hold a meeting to streamline the investigation into the Adarsh Housing Society scam. The court also wants the agencies to arrest persons named in the FIR to expedite the probe.
The HC directed the CBI to inform the concern state government departments to take departmental actions against serving officers indicted in the case.
Allowing only two weeks time to the investigating agencies, the high court bench observed, “The investigation by our agencies should be on par with that of the others. Time can be granted, but after a couple of years, there should not have been any need for intervention of the court.” The additional solicitor general Darius Khambata submitted a report, which the I-T department presented to the ED. The division bench was hearing petitions by Simpreet Singh and Pravin Wategaonkar.
