IIT-B to kick off 3-day Techfest today
Techfest, the much-awaited technological extravaganza of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) kicks off on Thursday at the institute’s Powai campus. According to the organisers, like its previous editions, the three-day festival will have numerous new technologies on display from all over the world along with guest speakers who will share their experiences and insights with students. One of the additions to this year’s edition is the inclusion of entertainers targeted at the floating crowd that also visits during Techfest.
Shrey Singh, manager Techfest said that the 16th edition would be better than its previous versions, as some of the best known inventors and their inventions would be on display. “There will be nano robots and robots, exhibits on light and sustainable energy sources and others that have been invited from USA, Japan, France, Switz-erland, etc,” said Singh. The lecture series will see top achievers like Nobel prize winner Amartya Sen; astronaut Rakesh Sharma; Amitabha Ghosh, chairman, science operation of curiosity mission, NASA, and others, he added.
The other categories include Technoholix that will showcase the biggest names in the entertainment sector from around the world; Ideate, wherein tea-ms from different institutes in the country will compete to propound the best progressive ideas, which with proper action have the potential of changing the world, among others.
“We have tried to make the festival a complete entertainer for people from different walks of life,” said Singh. The festival has also made special arrangements for the visits of school children and those from the marginalised classes of the society, Singh added.
