JJ doc missing after outing with friends
The police is on the lookout for a 26-year-old resident doctor from JJ Hospital, who went missing on Monday.
Dr Yogesh Phirke, a first year resident doctor, is originally from Jalgaon in Maharashtra. According to other medical students, Dr Phirke had gone for a movie with his friends on Sunday and has been missing since then. Doctors tried getting in touch with him on Monday, but his cellphone was switched off.
Dr Santosh Wakchaure, from Maharashtra Associ-ation of Resident Doctors, claimed that Dr Phirke did not have any problems in the hospital. “He was neither over-worked, nor was he harassed by anybody. He just went missing all of a sudden,” Dr Wakchaure said. Other doctors in the hospital said that it is quite possible that something untoward had happened to him. “We have informed the police and have also told Phirke’s friends to check unidentified bodies within mortuaries of various public hospitals,” said a senior doctor from JJ Hospital.
Police officers at the JJ Marg police station said that the student’s cellphone location was last traced to CST railway station on February 17. “After that, his cellphone was switched off. We have checked all the call data records, but the cellphone has not been switched on since then,” said an officer, adding that they are going to send a team to Goa. “On Tuesday, `10,000 was withdrawn from his bank account. The location this time was traced to an ATM kiosk near a beach in Goa. We cannot say anything beyond this,” the officer added.
