Khan, acb must cooperate to finish probe: HC

The Bombay high court has given 15 days time to the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) and Mohammed Kasim Khan (47), complainant in the graft case where 36 policemen from Nehru Nagar police station were suspended in April for accepting bribes, to cooperate with each other. It has also asked the FSL to ensure that the analysis of the evidence gathered in the case is completed within a month.
In another development, Mr Mohammed, who pleaded before the high court to transfer the investigation from the ACB to a special investigative team (SIT), has been asked to wait for a month.
On July 5, the high court gave 15 days to ACB, Mr Mohammed and his son Mr Rizwan to cooperate in the recording of their voice samples and statements, and gathering their phone call records and photocopies of Mohammed’s personal diary, which contains details on the bribes taken by the accused.
In June-end, the ACB had issued summons to Mr Mohammed and Mr Rizwan, because the duo was not handing over the camera used to record the 21 CDs where the accused are seen accepting bribes. The ACB had already submitted the voice samples of all the accused to the FSL.
The Tape Authentication and Speaker Identification (TASI) division of the lab then required the voice samples and the camera to complete their analysis.
Mr Mohammed, however, remained adamant and said that he did not trust the ACB and they would tamper with the camera. Providing some relief to Mr Mohammed, the high court asked him to submit the camera directly to R.R Mavle, assistant director of DFSL.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
