Kripashankar police security withdrawn
In a further setback to former Mumbai Congress president Kripashankar Singh, his police security was withdrawn on Saturday. According to sources from the protection and security branch of the Mumbai police, Mr Singh’s security was withdrawn after directives from the state home department.
“It is a policy that police security is not provided to people who are facing criminal cases. Moreover, the Bombay high court is monitoring the investigation into case against Mr Singh of possessing property disproportionate to his income. The HC has already passed strictures against the investigating agencies. Therefore it was impossible to continue his security,” a home department officer said. Mr Singh, who is former minister of state for home, was provided “Z-category” security.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team revisited Mr Singh’s residence at Sai Prasad building in Bandra (East) on Saturday. An officer of the SIT informed that the team was conducting further searches at the politician’s house and collecting documents.
The SIT may also attach his alleged properties in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra and Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
