‘Laila married Dubai-based Sonu to relocate’

Parvez Tak on Thursday told crime branch officials that starlet Laila Khan had married a man called Sonu in a bid to relocate to Dubai. Tak is accused of killing Laila, his wife Selina and four others of the Khan family.
Crime branch officials are now questioning several people known by the name of Sonu, who Laila allegedly knew, to establish the motive for the murders. “Parvez had told us that a man named Sonu had married Laila and he was going to help the family to shift to Dubai. So far, we have questioned two Sonus — one from Mumbai who is a transporter, but does not know the family and an Indian hotelier who has flown down from Dubai. The hotelier said that he knew the family, but is non committal on the marriage part,” he said.
In another development, Tak also claimed that he was treated like a domestic help by his wife Selina. According to him, Selina, who was planning to relocate to Dubai, had no intention of taking him along. Instead, she had assigned him the task of taking care of three properties of the Khan family in India.
Tak claimed that this “caretaker-like” treatment angered him, provoking him further to commit the crime. “After his arrest, Tak had said that he was upset, as the family was shifting to Dubai and he did not have a passport. Now, he claims that even if he had a passport, the family wouldn’t have entertained him,” a senior crime branch officer said.
According to Tak, the family did not keep him in the loop about its plans to shift to Dubai. “When Tak finally came to know, he was told that he would have to stay back and take care of the family’s properties,” the officer said, adding, “He claims that this was the argument he had with Selina on the fateful evening, after which he killed the entire family.”
The officer said that to establish this motive, they would first need to verify if the family was actually planning to relocate to Dubai. When asked, who will be handed over the properties, now that the entire family has been murdered, the officer said, “If no one comes to claim the properties, they will be attached and the state would become the owner.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
