Lensman kills self after posting on FB
A 32-year-old photographer committed suicide in his Chembur home on Monday afternoon after updating his statutes on Facebook that only indicated his intentions for actions that followed.
The police has said that his updates were signs of depression as he was debt ridden after losing a fortune in lottery tickets. Some of his updates were directed at friends, bidding goodbyes. However, a clear reason behind the extreme step has not been ascertained yet.
Prakash Patni, a freelance photographer and videographer, lived with his wife and son at building 18 in the Chembur camp area.
“His wife and son had gone out, and returned between 1.30 and 2 pm to find him hanging from the ceiling fan. He has posted messages on the social networking site only an hour before the suicide. The messages bid goodbye to all his friends. We have also learnt that he bought lottery tickets and lost a great deal of money. We also suspect that he lost money in gambling. Whether he was a compulsive gambler or an alcoholic is yet to be ascertained. His family is not in a condition to record statements. His brother has, however, claimed that he never consumed alcohol,” said senior police inspector Dilip Yadav. Ruling out foul play, the police said that it will speak to a few more of his friends and acquaintances to ascertain the cause behind the extreme step.
The last status update, apparently bidding final goodbye to his friends, read: “by love u tc...........alll.....” Two previous updates, suggest a broken love affair, and warn about girls in the film industry and their notoriety for duping men.
