Local court rejects closure report again

A court on Thursday rejected the closure report filed by Maharashtra CID in the case related to the death of seven-year-old Yogita Thakre, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a car owned by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari in 2009.
Magistrate Neelima Patil, while rejecting the closure report, directed that the girl’s father Ashok Dadarao Thakre and other witnesses be examined by CID as witnesses again. The same court had rejected the earlier closure report of CID on December 21, 2011.
A closure report is filed when an investigation agency finds no evidence to continue its probe.
The court, at the time, had said the protest petition (submissions made by Mr Thakre, who alleged murder) be treated as a private complaint and be registered as a criminal case. The magistrate observed that CID had not followed the guidelines framed by the high court in this regard.
Mr Thakre has now filed an application saying car driver Manohar Panse, Mr Gadkari and his wife Kanchan, Dr Paranjpe (who first examined Yogita) and others be investigated under Section 201 of IPC for “destruction of evidence”.
