Local train derails at Badlapur
Three wheels of one coach of Karjat-Badlapur special local derailed at the Badlapur station at around 2.30 pm on Sunday. However, no injury to any passenger was reported. Officials said that the incident occurred when the local was entering platform no. 2 and three wheels of one coach of the special local skidded off. Luckily, as the local was moving at a very slow pace, it did not lead to any untoward incident.
The motorman and the guard informed the control immediately and the re-railing operation was launched in full haste. However, to tackle the situation, the CR had to cancel four Up and four Down services in the affected section.
“The train derailed just a few metres before the Badlapur station. Our engineers swung into action and train services were restored. However, they were running 10-15 minutes late,” said A. K. Singh, PRO of Central Railway.
The CR was operating a block on the Up and Down lines between Kalyan and Ambernath stations for maintenance. Due to this, the Down line services leaving Kalyan between 1.32 pm and 3.17 pm, and Up line services leaving Badlapur between 1.49 pm and 3.22 pm were suspended. However, the CR ran shuttle services between Badlapur and Karjat during the block period, and it was this special service that derailed.
