Maha beefs up security at Buddhist sites in state

After a series of bomb blasts rocked the Bodhgaya city of Bihar on Sunday morning, security was beefed up at all Buddhist sites across the state.
Other religious places of worship were also provided additional security cover after the Central and state home department issued a high alert. The Mumbai police has also beefed up security at the Global Pagoda Vipasana Centre in Gorai.
Immediately after news of the blast was flashed on TV channels, the top brass of Maharashtra police put the state on high alert. DGP Sanjeev Dayal confirmed that security around all Buddhist places across the state was beefed up.
In Maharshtra, the known Buddhist places include Ajanta and Ellora caves, Kanheri, Chaityabh-oomi, Vipassana Pagoda, Nagpur’s Deekshabhoomi, Mansar, Nalasopara Bud-dhist Stupa, Thanale, Gan-dharpale, Kuda, Khads-ambale caves, Pandavleni, Junnar, Karla, Bhaja, Bedsa, Ghoradeshwar cav-es, Agashiv caves, Panda-vgad caves and Pitalkhora. Many foreign tourists visit most of these places; hence, additional security arran-gements were made at all the sites.
Deven Bharti, inspector general of police (law and order) state, confirmed that security at Buddhist places were stepped up and said, “All the police units across the state were asked to beef up security in the backdrop of the blasts in Bihar.”
Random checking, frisking of visitors on entry and exits and patrolling outside these installations were intensified on Sunday.
JCP (law and order), Sadanand Date said, “We have alerted all the police stations in the city. Security at Buddha vihars have been sensitised. Security at Global Pagoda has also been strengthened.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
