Maid falls off 17th floor
A 19-year-old domestic maid mysteriously fell to her death from the 17th floor of a Wadala highrise on Tuesday morning. The police suspects that it is a case of suicide, though it has not found a suicide note. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been temporarily registered pending investigations, and the officials are recording the statements of her employers.
Mansi Rajesh Gupta used to live and work at the residence of Amitesh Shah (45) in the A wing of Cosmic Heights near Bhakti Park for the last one year. “She had got married around a year and a half ago to one Rajesh, but had separated from him after constant fights. Shah’s wife Poonam spotted Gupta while she was trying to step on the ledge of the stairwell balcony. It was, however, too late before she could stop her. Gupta’s husband Rajesh is currently absconding and we are trying to trace him. We suspect Rajesh had married another woman that caused Gupta to take the extreme step,” said ACP Rajdoot Roopavate, Wadala TT police station.
According to the police, the family had observed that Gupta was tense and perturbed over the last one week. “We have learnt that she was tense due to the marital discord with her husband. Mr Shah’s wife had noticed that she seemed quiet and depressed,” the officer added.
The police has ruled out foul play and is waiting to record her parents’ statements, and subsequenty interrogate Rakesh.
