Man booked for killing 8-year-old son
The police has booked a 40-year-old man for killing his eight-year-old son in a fit of rage in August last year. The accused, an autorickshaw driver, has been missing since the day of the boy was found dead.
According to the RCF police, Aniket Gorse (8) was found dead inside a drum filled with water in New Bharat Nagar on August 20 last year. The death was discovered when his mother Jyoti, who works as a housemaid, returned home in the afternoon. Aniket was rushed to the Inlock Hospital in Chembur where he was declared dead before admission, and his body was later shifted to the Rajawadi Hospital for post-mortem.
“Aniket’s sister Ankita had at the time said that she was watching television along with Aniket when their father Parappa woke up. Irritated at having been woken up due to the noise, he started beating Ankita, and when Aniket intervened, Parappa turned his ire on him. A scared Ankita ran out of the house and waited some distance away for Jyoti to return, after which they both went inside the house and found Aniket dead. Parappa was nowhere to be seen,” said an officer with the RCF police.
At the time, the strongest theory was that Aniket might have somehow fallen into the drum while playing and drowned as a result. However, the possibility was unlikely and the incident with Parappa, coupled with his disappearance, cast suspicion on him.
On Thursday, the Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Kalina sent the reports of the chemical analysis on Aniket’s viscera, confirming that he had been choked to death and had not died due to drowning. Parappa continues to be missing, and the police has booked him for allegedly killing Aniket.
