Man cheats girl,arrested for rape

A 25-year-old man from Khar was arrested on rape charges for allegedly bringing a 19-year-old girl to Mumbai in 2011 and maintaining a live-in and sexual relationship with her on the pretext of marrying her.
The victim, Aasma (name changed) is now 21 years old. According to the police, the accused, Asif N. Shaikh is a resident of Golibar area in Khar (east) and works as a tailor. In 2011, Shaikh had gone to his hometown in Madhya Pradesh and fell in love with the victim, who lived in his neighbourhood.
Aasma’s parents are senior citizens and her brother works as a bus conductor. In September 2011, Shaikh promised to marry Aasma and brought her to Mumbai. They then lived together for 10 days, and also maintained a sexual relationship.
“However, after sexually exploiting Aasma, Shaikh kept her waiting for over a year. When she realised that Shaikh had fooled her, she approached us on July 2,” said an official from the Nirmal Nagar police station.
“We recorded her statement and registered an FIR against Shaikh. After gathering evidence, we arrested Shaikh a few days ago. He was produced before a magistrate’s court that remanded him to police custody till Saturday,” said PSI Sharad Jadhav of Nirmal Nagar police station.

Final merit list out for jr colleges
Age correspondent
Mumbai, July 5

The education department on Friday released the third and final merit list of the junior college online admission, with cut off marks slipping down by one to four percent in top colleges, as compared to the second merit list, in which a total of 29,938 students were allotted seats. N.B. Chavan, deputy director of school education said that students should secure their admission in whichever college they are allotted seats, rather than waste time looking for a seat in top colleges. The department will also keep the admissions open via the offline format for those who were not allotted seats in the online process.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
