Man flees RPF custody, arrested
Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff went into a tizzy on Sunday morning, when an accused escaped from their custody but was later apprehended.
According to the police, Lalit Chhagan Jain (22) was arrested on Saturday for buying copper cable wires belonging to the railways from his accomplice M.D. Hussain who had stolen them from a Matunga workshop.
“We had arrested Hussain a month ago for stealing copper wires from the Matunga workshop. We arrested Jain on Saturday but he escaped from custody,” said Alok Bohra, senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, CR.
The officer added that Jain escaped when he was taken to the toilet. The accused was traced after eight hours. The police has recovered 220 kgs of copper cable wires worth `40,000.
