Man held for molestation, stalking
The Pydhonie police has arrested a 21-year old man for allegedly harassing a female colleague at her workplace and stalking her.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shahnur N. Lokhandwala, a resident of Nawrojee Hill Road in Dongri.
The complainant, 27-year-old Ayesha Bansal (name changed), a Bhandup resident, works at a private firm in Masjid Bunder. Lokhandwala also works in the same firm and was Bansal’s training head when she joined the firm in 2011.
According to the police, in her complaint, Ayesha has stated that Lokhandwala had been harassing and following her since March this year. He would regularly call her on her cellphone at odd times and would also make blank calls on her landline. Fed up with the harassment, on July 12, the victim confided in her boss. Her boss immediately sacked Lokhandwala from service.
On Saturday morning, Lokhandwala approached Ayesha outside Masjid Bunder railway station and grabbed her hand while trying to talk to her. She immediately called her family. In the, meantime, Lokhandwala made a call to the police control room and claimed that a woman was trying to commit suicide near Carnac Bunder Bridge. However, before the police could reach there, the victim spotted a police-patrolling vehicle and informed them about the incident. The police then took both of them to the police station. “The probe revealed that Lokhandwala had deliberately made a call to the police to evade arrest and falsely implicate the victim,” said another officer of Pydhonie police.
