Man held for raping 3-yr-old
A 30-year-old has been arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old at a village in Mouda taluka, about 40 km from Nagpur.
The incident took place on Sunday, the police said, adding that the accused, has been identified as Suresh Kushal Khedkar from Gosavi Mangli village in the district.
The victim had gone to Mouda with her parents to attend a relative’s wedding.
While the elder members of the family were busy in the marriage hall, the accused took the girl to a nearby field, sexually assaulted her and left her there.
At night, the girls’ parents and relatives realised that the minor had gone missing, following which they launched a search, the police said. The next morning, some villagers found the girl at the farm and informed the police. The girl was rushed to the state-run Mayo General Hospital, where doctors confirmed that she had been raped. The police started interrogating some youths in the nearby areas and zeroed in on the accused, who was arrested from his residence early on Tuesday. Khedkar has been booked under various sections of IPC, as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, police inspector Mitharam Taide said.

16-year-old raped, impregnated

The police has arrested a man from the Nashik district for repeatedly raping a 16-year-old till she got pregnant. Incidentally, the victim is a distant relative of the accused. While the incident took place around six months ago, a case was only filed on Monday at the Nandgaon police station.
According to police sources, the incident took place when the girl was returning from school in Hiswal Budruk village. The accused, Bapu Sajan Sonawane, who is married and has a baby daughter, called the girl to his house claiming that he needed her help for some work in the house. When she came inside, he closed the doors to his house and raped her.
After this incident, he raped her daily and threatened to kill her if she spoke to anyone about it. A few days later, she got pregnant, but it went unnoticed due to her loose school dress, the police said.
However, on Monday, her elder sister noticed her swollen belly and asked her about it, when the victim narrated the incident.
The sister took her to a doctor, who confirmed the pregnancy. They then informed their mother and together they lodged a complaint on Monday. Further investigations are on.
