Man killed in hit-and-run on Bandra Sealink Road

In yet another case of hit-and-run, a 26-year-old consultant with property portal 99acres.com was killed after a speeding car knocked him down on the Bandra Sealink Road early on Sunday morning. The deceased was standing on the road, next to his stationed sedan car, while its punctured tyre was being replaced.
According to the Bandra police, the accident took place at around 4.15 am on the southbound stretch of the Bandra Sealink Road at the U-bridge next to Bandra Reclamation.
The deceased, Vishal Mahesh Shah, was a resident of Malad (east) and had left his residence at around 9 pm on Saturday to meet his friends in Bangur Nagar of Malad (west). After their party ended at around 3 am, Vishal suggested that they go to the Bandra-Worli Sealink for a ride.
Vishal’s longtime friend and eyewitness in the case, Siddharth Tirodkar (29), a finance student, accompanied him. When their car reached the southbound stretch of Bandra Reclamation, its left rear wheel got punctured. They parked the car on the road next to the pavement and got down to change the punctured tyre. According to Siddharth’s statement, an unknown speeding vehicle rammed into Shah and sped away from the spot. Due to the impact, Shah was thrown around 25 to 30 feet away from the accident spot. Siddharth called the police for help and Vishal was rushed to Bhabha Hospital where he was declared dead on admission of grievous head injuries.
Investigating officer, assistant inspector Kundlik Gadhave said, “We have registered an FIR against an unidentified motorist under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC and under Section 134 A and B of the Motor Vehicle Act.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
