Man kills wife in a fit of anger
A domestic argument went horribly wrong when a 35-year-old Andheri resident stabbed his wife to death in their house late on Thursday night.
According to the DN Nagar police, residents of the Neelgagan building on the Sheetladevi Road in Andheri called the police station saying that one of their neighbours were having a violent argument, and that they suspected that something had gone wrong. A team of officers reached the building and tried to get first floor resident Lisbon Miranda (35) to open the door. However, when repeated knocking elicited no response, the team broke down the door and entered the house.
“Miranda’s wife Bindiya was lying in a pool of blood in the living room. Miranda was sitting next to her with a kitchen knife in his hands. He was totally silent and did not utter a word as we took him into custody and brought him to the police station,” said an officer with the DN Nagar police.
Bindiya was rushed to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle where she was declared dead before admission due to multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and heavy loss of blood. Miranda was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with murder. He has been remanded to police custody till June 2.
“The couple used to have frequent arguments. We don’t know what exactly triggered Miranda’s murderous rage and are interrogating him. The couple had just returned from a party and Miranda might have had a few drinks and was inebriated at the time of the murder,” said V.D. Bhoite, senior police inspector, DN Nagar police.
Mr Bhoite added that the couple had married five years ago, and has a three-year-old daughter, who was not in the house at the time of the incident.
