Man shot dead in Khar bar
An alleged criminal gunned down a 37-year-old man over a previous enmity at a bar in Khar (east) late on Thursday night. No arrests have been made so far.
According to the Nirmal Nagar police, the incident took place at around 11 am in Sharda Bar and Restaurant located along the Golibar Road near the Golibar slums.
The deceased, Vijay Pujari alias Batta, who was employed with a private airline, was having drinks with his friends identified as Chandra Singh, Lokesh and Kamlesh. Acting on a tip-off, Pujari’s enemy Rahul Sharma, armed with a fire arm, barged into the bar with his accomplices Majeek, Ajay Pandit, Viren Thakur, Subhash Shukla and an unidentified accused.
Sharma fired two rounds at Pujari, and one of the bullets got lodged on the left side of his chest. He was then assaulted with a chopper on his neck and stomach. Singh suffered injuries on his head, nose and left hand. Pujari was rushed to the VN Desai Hospital, where he was declared brought dead, while Singh is out of danger.
Both Pujari and Sharma have multiple assault cases against them. An official from Nirmal Nagar claimed that none of them were associated with any political parties or the underworld.
Pujari was working in the cargo department of the airline. His wife, a son and his mother, survive him.
