Man stabbed 8 times over enmity, dies
A 22-year-old man, along with three of his brothers and mother, stabbed a 40-year-old small-time businessman to death over a four-year long past enmity in the Malwani area of Malad (west) early on Tuesday morning. No arrests have been made so far.
The Malwani police said that the incident took place at around 4.30 am in New Collector compound. The deceased, identified as Ismail Memon, supplied materials for weddings and was a part-time share broker. Memon lived with his family, comprising his wife and children in plot no. 64 in New Collector compound. Memon was chatting with a woman from his neigbhourhood when a man came up to him and passed a lewd comment at her. When Memon confronted the man, the main accused, Ameen alias Amu came from behind and intervened.
Soon a heated argument ensued between Ameen and Memon. Seeing this, Ameen’s three brothers and his mother joined the fight. The gang used a knife to stab Memon at least eight times. Memon was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital, but was declared dead before admission.
Senior police inspector Abdulrauf Shaikh of Malwani police station said, “The two families share a personal enmity since 2009. We have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of IPC against Ameen, his brothers and their mother.”
“Soon after registering the case, we launched a manhunt for the five accused, but they have escaped,” he added.
