Man wanted for killing nephew over money issue
The Borivali police is on the lookout for a middle-aged man who allegedly murdered his young nephew after they fought over a money issue in Borivali (west) on Wednesday morning.
According to the Borivali police, after a big fight with his uncle, victim Laxman Shettiyar, who deals in electronic equipments, went back to his residence in Mira Road at around 7.30 am. Shettiyar sustained a blow to his head and had suffered an external injury on his forehead above his eyebrow. Shettiyar shared his residence with another person who is a good friend of his. When the friend asked him about the injuries, Shettiyar told him about the fight he had with his uncle. Within some time, Shettiyar started experiencing pain in his body and fell unconscious at his Mira Road residence.
Senior police inspector Narayan Khaire of Borivali police station said, “His friend, with others rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, looking at the nature of injuries, the doctor at the hospital suggested he be shifted to Bhagwati Hospital. He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. The hospital alerted us about the issue.”
“Based on the autopsy report, a case of murder has been registered. We are in the process of recording the statements of Shettiyar’s friend, family and other persons. We will arrest the accused soon,” added Mr Khaire.
A police official said that the accused and the deceased shared previous enmity over a monetary issue.
