‘MANY BUILDINGS IN RAIGAD ARE DEADLY TRAPS’
The Maharashtra Cha-mber of Housing Indu-stry (MCHI) has raised an alarm against rampant unauthorised construction in the Raigad district and appealed to the CM and other authorities to take immediate action against errant people and save gullible homebuyers from falling into deadly traps.
Shaken by the Mumbra building crash that has claimed 74 lives so far, MCHI Credai Raigad unit president Rajesh Prajapati said, “We have been writing to various authorities for a long time drawing their attention to the menace of unauthorised construction going unchecked.” MCHI is a part of the Credai, which is the apex body of developers across the country.
Dashing the letter to the CM, urban
development secretary and the managing director of Cidco, Mr Prajapati said, “What is even shocking is the fact that village panchayats are issuing permissions for construction that too by charging exorbitant rates though they are not authorised to do so.”
He expressed shock that the higher authorities and revenue officials were turning a blind eye to this dangerous aspect.
