Mid-portion of woman’s body found in bag
In yet another horrific case of crime against women, the police has found the mutilated middle-portion of a young woman’s body in a highly decomposed state, which was stuffed inside a cement bag and dumped in a secluded area along the Mahim creek in Bandra (west).
According to the Bandra police, they received information about the body at around 9 pm on Sunday from a local of that area. The bag was found next to the northern end of the Mahim creek near the Bandra-Worli Sealink.
The deceased is aged between 17 and 30. The state of decomposition indicates that she was brutally murdered at least 48 hours before Sunday night, an official said.
The middle portion contains some part of her legs as well. During the panchnama, the police has found a chocolate-coloured bedsheet, a blue-coloured dress and a black top from the bag. Several officials from the Bandra police, special agencies and nearby police stations searched the area, but were unable to find the rest of her body.
“As of now, it is not clear whether the woman’s body was thrown into the sea from the Sealink or the murderer brought the body in a car and then dumped it. It is difficult to say if she was sexually assaulted before the murder. We are probing all angles,” said police inspector, crime, R.S. Kane of Bandra police station.
