Model abused, molested by neighbour
A 25-year-old model was allegedly spat on, abused and molested by a man in her building over past enmity outside their society in the Meetha Nagar area of Goregaon (west) on Tuesday night, the police said. The victim, who is a former Gladrags and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) model, spoke to a few mediapersons about her ordeal. She is presently working for her first film.
The Goregoan police said that the incident took place at around 8.30 pm when she was just outside her building in Meetha Nagar. “The 36-year-old accused Jabbar Kapil spat on her. He also abused her and then touched her inappropriately on her waist,” said a police official requesting anonymity.
The victim immediately approached the Goregaon police station where she registered a case of molestation under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
Senior police inspector, Arun Jadhav of Goregaon police station said, “We arrested Kapil on the same night. We have produced him in a magistrate court on Wednesday. The court has granted his police custody for one day for further investigations.” Kapil is a businessman by profession and lives in the same building. According to sources, the victim and the accused Kapil have been having fights in the past over issues in the society.
