MRCC post sets off rat race

All is not well in Maharashtra Congress, as yet again partymen in the state are out lobbying against each other.
A few of them on Tuesday allegedly reached New Delhi, demanding an early appointment of president of Mumbai Region Congress Committee.
Those who reached the capital are said to be from MP Gurudas Kamat’s group, fuelling rumours that the group wanted to rule the metropolis.
Only recently, MLA Sunil Kedar, Gopaldas Agarwal and 11 others had called for a meeting and vowed to complain against chief minister Prithviraj Chavan’s way of functioning in New Delhi. The CM had to call Mr Kedar and the others to placate them.
However, now MLA Baldeo Khosa, MLA and former minister Chandrkant Handore, former MLA Usuf Abrahani, MLCs Jaganath Shetty, Alka Desai,Amarjeet Singh Manhas and others from Mumbai Congress reached New Delhi on Tuesday with the demand to have someone to fill the vacancy, following the resignation of its president Kripashankar Singh.
Mr Singh had been under scanner after the debacle of the party in the BMC. A lobby of Congressmen, especially those said to be followers of Mr Kamat was getting stronger against Mr Singh. However, Mr Singh stuck to his post, until a HC order called for a CBI inquiry in a disproportionate assets case involving him. He was forced to resign and since then, the post has been vacant.
The disastrous results of the BMC elections has given rise to the demand for a Marathi speaking leader to lead the MRCC. Some of the names that are in the running, include MLC Bhai Jagtap, MLAs Madhu Chavan, and MP Eknath Gaikawad.
“The post cannot be kept vacant for long and hence, everyone is trying their luck. If leaders known to be followers of one leader form a group, they must have some special demand to be submitted to the high command,” said a MPCC member, while speaking on the subject.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
