Msrdc reverts to sealink option
The Nationalist Congress Party-headed Mahara-shtra State Road Deve-lopment Corporation (MSRDC) has ruled out the coastal road option between Worli-Haji Ali — as was earlier proposed by the Congress — and claimed that after the present contract with Reliance Infrastructure for Worli-Haji Ali Sealink is terminated, it will construct the bridge on a cash-contract basis.
“The issue of cancellation of Worli-Haji Ali sealink contract was in the board meeting agenda, but we have deferred the subject for a later date,” said Sonia Sethi, joint managing director of MSRDC.
“Getting clearances for a coastal road will take its own time and even amendments need to be made for it. Instead, why not to have a sealink when all the bodies
and authorities, including the state government have already approved it?” said Jaydutt Kshirsagar, chairman of MSRDC.
The state government had earlier proposed the option of coastal road on the justification that it is comparatively cheaper and faster to construct than sealinks.
A mediator, Justice (retired) B.P. Singh, was appointed to look into the contractual obligations between RInfra and the state government.
