MU assures help to 12 students
The University of Mumbai has gone out of its way to alleviate the sufferings of 12 students, who were about to lose a year, due to the University’s mistake.
Taking cognisance of The Asian Age’s article that reported the plight of 12 IT MSc students of IDOL in Thursday’s April 5 edition, the department of students welfare called upon the students through this reporter and met them at the Kalina campus to apprise itself of the extent of injustice they had suffered. This despite Thursday being a holiday on account of Mahavir Jayanti.
The students were assured that all steps would be taken to ensure that they are allowed to appear for MSc IT’s fifth and sixth semester exams in May.
Mridul Nile, director of the students welfare department, who has been appointed by the University to look into exam-related problems of students met the students personally. “It was a question of their future and even though the number of students affected by the result delay was miniscule, it is our duty to ensure justice. Hence, we are taking immediate steps to correct the situation,” said Mr Nile. He further emphasised that as the exams were only a month away, he would take up the issue with the examination section on a war footing and after verifying the issue, would take the necessary steps to help the students appear for the exams in May.
