MU TO PLUG GROUPISM IN EXAM SYSTEM

The University of Mumbai (MU) has finally decided to put an end to acts of groupism and favouritism prevalent among various stakeholders in the examination system and ensure smooth functioning.

According to sources in the University, a computer-generated Central Assessment Programme (CAP)
will end the rivalry among teachers and department heads, which has caused a delay in the declaration of results.
In the past, there have been instances of results getting delayed due to the unwillingness of teachers to report to the CAP centres, only because their juniors were appointed as heads of the centres by deans of the respective faculties.
The new software will randomly select CAP centre heads and allocate centres to teachers.
When asked about the initiative, Dr Naresh Chandra, pro-vice-cha-ncellor, MU said, “The initiative is aimed at lessening the stress levels of all stakeholders in the examination pro-cess, and ensuring transparency and accountability.”
