Munde criticises Shinde for Bofors comment
BJP deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde on Monday severely criticised Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who-se comments that people have forgotten Bofors and would forget the coal scam had raised many eyebrows.
In a retort to Mr Shinde’s comment, Mr Munde said, “People have forgotten Indiraji, Rajivji. Now they might forget even Soniaji.” The senior BJP leader explained that in 1977, former PM Indira Gandhi was defeated in the elections. Even Rajiv Gandhi had to step down from power, and now it is Mrs Sonia Gandhi’s turn.
Mr Munde said that the FDI would affect 20 crore people, including farmers, retailers, and big traders. He said that earlier the decision on FDI was held up after there was a discussion with UPA member parties. However, this time, the government did not hold any talks with member parties. “It broke its pact with members of the UPA,” Mr Munde
said.
He said that if parties including the NCP, Trinu-mul Congress, SP, DMK, etc, which support the UPA from within and from outside, withdraw the support, there is a possibility of mid-term elections.

CBI traps its own officer in graft case
Age Correspondent
Mumbai, Sept. 17
The CBI on Monday announced that it had trapped and arrested one of its own officers in a corruption case. On September 14, police sub-inspector K.K. Sabat was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of `20,000 from a witness in a criminal case.
The trap was laid when the complainant in the case approached the CBI a few months ago. Investigating officers verified the authenticity of the complaint, and checked both the complainant and the accused’s antecedents before laying the trap. “Sabat was caught while accepting the bribe at Tarun Bharat building in Andheri (east). The complainant is a witness in a 2011 case criminal case investigated by the CBI Economic Offences Wing. Sabat was threatening the complainant saying that he would be made an accused in the case, if the latter didn’t agree to pay up,” said a CBI official requesting anonymity.
After the arrest, officers from the investigating agency also raided the accused’s home in Mumbai, and documents pertaining to a number of bank accounts and property were recovered.
“We will probe to find out if there were other victims whom Sabat had threatened this way, and how many CBI investigations he has been a part of,” said the official requesting anonymity.
The accused has been remanded to police custody till September 18.
