NC against TC for slapping traveller
A non-cognisable (NC) offence was registered against a head ticket checker of Central Railway (CR) after he allegedly slapped a 29-year-old person who was travelling without a proper ticket in a first class compartment on Wednesday.
According to Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP), the complainant Ramesh Kumar Pratapram Arya, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune district was travelling in a CST-bound fast train in the first class compartment while possessing second class ticket.
Mr Arya allegedly refused to pay the fine of `260 when TC Anand Madansingh Pardeshi (48) caught him travelling without proper ticket. Mr Arya reportedly tried to flee due to which an altercation ensued. The incident took place at 10.05 am in the Dombivali-CST fast train.
“Arya was asked to get off at Dadar when he refused to pay the fine. An altercation had taken place between the two in the train itself and spilled over when they alighted at the station,” said Prakash Kirdat, senior police inspector of Dadar GRP. Another GRP officer said, “Arya’s glasses broke during the altercation. He refused medical examination.”
In his complaint Mr Arya alleged that he was slapped after which an NC was registered against the TC. There have been several complaints regarding people travelling in the first class compartments without proper tickets. Subsequently, the checking staff conducts regular drives to nail such persons.
“The passenger was poor and had come to the city for medication. He was detained at Dadar and was assaulted,” said Sameer Jhaveri, an activist who is pursuing the case.
