No sexual assault on boy: Report
The panel report from Nair Hospital on the alleged sexual assault of the six-year-old kindergarten boy has claimed that there was no sexual assault. The city police received the report late on Thursday evening; it refrained from commenting on the issue, citing the “sensitive” nature of the case. The police had consulted the Nair Hospital, which constituted a panel of five doctors, including a psychiatrist, to examine the boy.
Both senior police inspector Subhash Raut of VB Nagar police station and DCP (Zone 5) Dhananjay Kulkarni confirmed that they had received the report, but refused to comment. A source, however, said that the report has come back “negative” considering the circumstances surrounding the case. “Sexual assault and the supposed bruises on the boy’s body have been negated. We are yet to study the report and it would be inappropriate to comment,” the source said. Another source said, “The report negates the possibility of a sexual assault.” A doctor from the hospital, who was one of the members of the panel, refused to comment.
Apparently, a medical report from the Nagpada Police Hospital observed a bruise near the boy’s rectum, but the cause of the bruise is yet to be determined.
The police had arrested an 18-year-old female bus attendant after the boy claimed that she used to hand him over to two “uncles” who attacked and sexually abused him. The incident came to light when the boy screamed to be left alone during a nightmare.
The parents consulted a family physician, who concluded a sexual assault after which the parents filed a complaint.
