No water in central mumbai on March 5, 6
Central Mumbai areas like Dadar, Mahim, Matunga and Sion will have no water supply, while a majority of areas in the island city and western suburbs will face 20 per cent water cuts on March 5 and 6 due to the Mahim tunnel work.
According to civic hydraulic department officials, the transmission main along Mulund-Goregaon Link Road and Tansa (east) and Tansa (west) from Bandra to Elphinstone Road (Rohidas Chowk) is required to be isolated for diversion work at Mulund and connectivity works at Mahim Tunnel shaft respectively.
“This work will be undertaken from 10 pm on March 4 till the evening of March 6. The isolation of these mains will result in no water supply to areas like Sion, Sewri (G/South ward) and Dadar, Mahim, Mat-unga (G/North) during the repair works. However, residents of Dharavi will get regular water supply,” said an official from
the hydraulic department.
In addition to this, there will be 20 per cent reduction in water supply in city areas like Colaba, Fort (A), Marine Lines (C), Malabar Hill, Girgaum, Tardeo (D) and the entire western suburbs from Bandra to Dahisar.Civic officials have asked citizens to use water judiciously over the next few days.

City polytechnic inks research Mou with UK univ
Thane, March 3: The Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Polytechnic in Thane has signed a memorandum of understanding for collaborative research on artificial hearts with United Kingdom’s Aston University, VPM sources said on Sunday. VPM chairman Vijay V. Bedekar said that in May 2012, Aston University’s former head of the department Geoff Tansley visited VPM’s Polytechnic in Thane and its Maharshi Parshuram College of Engineering, Velneshwar, to explore the feasibility of the collaboration.
Successful discussions with him and principal D.K. Nayak, led to the signing of an MoU for collaborative research. Aston University’s principal investigator and lecturer Mark Prince visited VPM’s Polytechnic in Thane in October 2012 to finalise the MoU and discuss project plans. VPM Polytechnic’s Head of the Department of Industrial Electronics Kirti Agashe is the Indian Principal Investigator.
As per the MoU, Kirti Agashe and Omkar Joshi, visited Aston University to discuss the project progress and to conduct experiments there during January-February 2013, sources said.
