ONGC Won’t Lend Terminal To aerodrome
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ON-GC) has refused to share its terminal with Juhu aerodrome, citing “infrastructural constraints”.
The Airports Author-ity of India had appr-oached the oil producer last month to lend its terminal — which is complete with CISF cover — for the Juhu aerodrome. The ONGC was approached as the plan for CISF cover at the Juhu airport, is currently in limbo. A meeting took place between the two authorities on Tues-day, where the proposal was discussed.
Confirming the development, Juhu airport director M. Yadgiri said that the “current state of affairs” will persist as of now and that they might hold another round of talks with ONGC. “Let us see if we can succeed in convincing them lat-er,” he said. A senior AAI official, however, ruled out chances of ONGC agreeing to lend its terminal.

State lawyers abstain from courts on Wed.
Age Correspondent
Mumbai, July 11
Lawyers from Mahar-ashtra and Goa on Wednesday abstained from appearing in courts to oppose the Higher Education and Research bill proposed by the government.
An advocate on condition of anonymity said, “The government has proposed a new bill that says it would arrange for a separate committee which would take decisions on the legal and educational issues of law, effectively taking away the powers bestowed upon the Bar Council of India.”
According to advocate Sudeep Pasbola, head of the BCI, “ The abstention was observed by advocates all over Maharashtra and Goa. This abstention will continue on Thursday too and we hope for a similar response from all quarters.”
