Opp: need special Assembly session for disaster plan
The Opposition parties, while saying that they would cooperate with the state in overcoming the disaster, have now demanded for a special session of the Assembly to discuss disaster management.
They have also demanded that the compensation for the five victims be the same as that given to 26/11 victims.
“We all met the CM. He told us about the makeshift arrangements that have been made in the Vidhan Bhavan, the new administrative building and other places. He also informed us that after a structural audit report, decision about the Mantralaya building would be taken. We have asked him to get the investigation by fire forensic experts completed at the earliest. The CM said things would be back to normal in the next to eight to 10 days,” said Eknath Khadse, leader of Opposition, after a delegation of Shiv Sena, MNS and BJP leaders from both the houses of state legislature met the CM on Friday.
According to Mr Khadse, Bala Nandgaonkar of MNS, Subhash Desai, and others have also told the CM that the Opposition would back the state, if positive decisions were taken. “However, we also suggested that there was a need for calling a special session of Assembly before the monsoon session only to discuss how to deal with disaster situations, said Mr Khadse, adding, “All of us told him that people’s reactions are very strong after yesterday’s fire.”
The Opposition also suggested that all the five victims of fire be compensated at par with the victims of the 26/11 terror attack.
