Patil: Simple Letter being politicised
Maharashtra home minister, R.R. Patil, on Tuesday said that there was no need to politicise a simple official correspondence between the Maharashtra Police and the Bihar DGP. He added that his department shares cordial relationship with Bihar police and there was nothing wrong in the letter written by the police of one state to another.
Mr Patil, speaking to the media on the news run by the media and the comments by politicians appealed to political parties to refrain from politicising the issue. He said that the letter from DGP Bihar was only administrative but the issue was blown out of proportion and politicised by some parties for their political mileage. “The DGP of Bihar has just asked the Maharashtra police to observe procedure while arresting persons from that state. There was no threatening language used in the letter,” said Mr Patil.
Mr Patil said that MNS chief Raj Thackeray as well as the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar should restrain from making any political statements on this issue. “Statements by Nitish Kumar were uncalled for. There is no substance in his allegations against the state government as we have started the legal procedure of checking if there was any objectionable statement in the speech delivered by Raj Thackeray. We are consulting with the advocate general on the issue and appropriate action will be taken if required, ” he said.
Mr Patil also added that Bihar police have always been cooperating with Mumbai police and both share very good relations. “We do not wish to spoil our relations with the police in Bihar as they have been cooperating us whenever appealed for,” he added.
