Pawar takes a dig at Team Anna

NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday made sarcastic comments against Anna Hazare and his team’s decision to form a political party and contest the elections. “Now that they have decided to form a party, we will get to see a different election. We will get to learn how to contest the elections without spending money. If the Team Anna can bring any changes, it will be welcomed,” Mr Pawar said.

The NCP chief also expressed concern about some other parties like the BJP, trying to promote Team Anna’s agitation to tarnish the UPA’s image. “Some parties thought that if Team Anna is able to form a public opinion against the UPA, it would help the Opposition. But now, with Team Anna itself deciding to contest the elections, they will actually divide anti-incumbency votes. The parties that supported Anna Hazare did not expect them to be partners in getting anti-UPA votes. The BJP and other parties are not happy with Mr Hazare and his team now,” Mr Pawar said. He further added that having decided to form a party, Team Anna would now get an idea as to what it means too be in public life. “They have nearly two years to visit people. They will be starting from the North East and go up to Kanyakumari…I don’t think they will go by plane, they may use other means of transport since they are simple people. Other parties will also learn from that tour,” Mr Pawar said.
He said that even when a clean chit was given to him and other ministers in the purchase of wheat, Team Anna took up the issue, demanding action against 15 ministers.
“In Delhi, there are many organisations that habitually keep making allegations. They also create news for the media and get publicity,” Mr Pawar added.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
