Plan issued before cabinet nod: BJP
In a fresh spate of allegations, BJP MLC Vinod Tawde on Friday demanded the cancellation of the `273-crore tender of Kikwi Peyajal Project at Trambake-shwar in Nashik. BP has alleged that the tender for the project was issued even before the cabinet or the governor sanctioned the same.
Leader of Opposition in the upper house of state legislature, Mr Tawade alleged that a tender of any project could be issued only after the governor sanctions the proposal or if it gets the approval of the cabinet. However, the Godavari-Marathwada Irrigation Development Corpo-ration bypassed this procedure to sanction the Kikwi project and tenders were floated on July 13, 2009. On August 14, 2009, the governor gave his nod while on August 26, 2009 it received the cabinet’s sanction.
Aiming barbs at former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for fast decision-making, Mr Tawde said, “Why there was so much haste is not understood. All the procedures for the Kikwi Peyajal Project were bypassed to benefit the contractors,” said Mr Tawde. The BJP leader also alleged that in another project at Susari in Dahanu, there were irregularities and that it was sanctioned within 72 hours. The BJP demanded action against all the concerned officers along with immediate cancellation of the projects.
