Police says Mona MMS is morphed

Two days after the cyber police wing of Mumbai crime branch launched an investigation into the obscene MMS video clip, reportedly of actor Mona Singh, investigators believes that the video is morphed. Earlier, even Ms Singh had claimed in her police complaint that the MMS is morphed and that she is not the girl in the video.
The actor lodged a complaint with the Versova police on Thursday night after she learnt about the MMS, which had gone viral on the Internet and instant messengers on cellphones three days ago. The case was later transferred to the BKC cyber police, which comes under the Mumbai crime branch.
A senior official from the crime branch on Sunday said, “The investigation is underway and we will do whatever is required in the interest of the investigation. Prima facie, the video seems to be morphed.” The officer d\enied elaborating and giving details of the investigation.
The police has registered the case under relevant sections of Information Technology Act against an unknown person and is trying to trace the computer used to upload the offending content. The police is also trying to find out if someone known to the actress uploaded the video.
Senior inspector of BKC cyber police Nandkumar More said, “We are trying to get to the source of the video. It is a tough task to locate the source, but we are trying our best.”
However, cyber experts feel that even as the task of locating the source may be a tough shot, investigators can narrow the search if they can figure out if the accused was an acquaintance of the victim. An IT expert said, “A video, when uploaded on the Internet, is only viewed once the culprit informs people known to him to look up for it. So, if someone from the victim’s friend circle has done this, then after going through and analysing their conversations, the investigators can zero in on the culprit.”
Sources said that the police may question the actor’s close friends and would also go through their activities on the Internet for at least the last week.
The MMS clip, which went viral on YouTube, various social networking sites and on cellphone messengers, is around 25 seconds long, and shows the person in a nude state.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
