Pune bus fares to be rounded off
The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has decided to convert all its fares to round figures from Wednesday with bus tickets now costing `5, `10, `15, `20, `25 and so on. This proposal to round up fares was put before the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), which has approved it. Heated arguments would often take place between commuters and conductors over change and so PMPML director Prashant Jagtap said that the new fare system will help tackle this problem. It was a long-standing demand of commuters to round off the ticket fares.
The PMPML board of directors said that they expect that the move will help in increasing the number of commuters on the buses. The PMPML published a press release stating that the new fares will be implemented from Wednesday. Those who were paying the fare of `12 will have to pay `10 per ticket now and those paying `13 will have to pay `15. Jagtap said that many commuters will now be paying less as ticket fare.

Cops looking for guests
Mumbai: In a recent meeting of officers at the Pune police commissionerate, crime branch and the local police were instructed by senior officers to check for guests who stayed at the lodges and hotels in their jurisdiction before the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, but failed to return or deposit the keys. The police suspects that the assailants might have stayed in some of these hotels before they came to the city to commit the crime. Meanwhile, investigators have also been asked to collect the CCTV footage from petrol pumps from their respective police station jurisdictions where the accused might have stopped for refueling their bike. Joint CP (law and order) Sanjeevkumar Singhal said the investigation was on the right track and are identifying both organisations and individuals who incurred financial losses due to Dabholkar’s campaign.
